The New Cue #104 December 17: Animal Collective, Kevin Morby, Shygirl, Beach House, dvr, King Hannah, George Dekker, Deap Vally, Shed Seven
17 December, 2021
Good morning readers, friends, subscribers and Dave!
We have 46 Daves on our mailing list, plus 101 Davids. There’s 107 Johns, but if the Daves and Davids united they would easily win. It’s such a shame they can’t get on. There’s 17 Marys, 25 Louises and 7 Nialls. None of the Nialls are paying subscribers. Cheapskates!
Welcome to your final Reccie Friday of the year. There was some chat amongst us as to whether we could keep providing the Reccie goods right up to Christmas, concerned that we’d get to the last week and would be sharing verses of Ed and Elton’s Christmas song to write about, but we did it. Did we keep finding good new music to write about or did good music find us? *looks deep into camera* we found each other.
As well as our picks of the week, we’ve also got Shed Seven’s Rick Witter telling us about how their hit Going For Gold came together and Deap Vally pick an album to blow your mind. Kapow! Here a playlist to listen along, go on, live a little:
If you’re on the free list and you want the full shebang, then all you have to do is click the little button below. It’s only £5 a month to subscribe. Yes, I’m looking at you Niall.
We’ll see you on Monday, when we’ve got part one of a megachat with the one and only Elvis Costello. What a way to start Christmas week!
Enjoy the edition,
Ted, Niall and Chris
