The New Cue #107 January 5: Mike Garson, David Bowie

Good morning,

Wow, that went quick didn’t it? Happy New Year to you! In the week that would’ve been David Bowie’s 75th birthday, we’ve got a cracker to whip 2022 into action as his pianist Mike Garson tells us all about the making of the 1995 single The Hearts Filthy Lesson and its parent album Outside. Bowie would’ve liked The New Cue, I reckon. He would’ve told Jeremy Paxman all about how Substack music newsletters were the future, especially the ones that have the same initials as the people making it, which was actually really clever even though they didn’t mean to do that.

We’ve got lots of good gear coming your way over the next few weeks, including interviews with Tears For Fears, Pixies, Johnny Marr and more. The January blues won’t know what’s hit it.

We’ll see you on Friday for the first Reccie Friday of the year. Enjoy the edition - and if a paywall means that this is where your first New Cue year ends, then you know what to do. Hit that little Subscribe button, join the top brass.

Ted, Niall and Chris
