The New Cue #135 March 11: Horsegirl, Jenny Hval, Everything Everything, Daniel Rossen, Aldous Harding, Joesef, Spiritualized, Gruff Rhys, Crows
11 March, 2022
Good morning to one and all,
We bring you news this fine Friday. In six Fridays time, on April 22, The New Cue will begin a fortnightly residency at The Social, on Little Portland Street in London’s swinging West End, between 6 and 8pm (ish). Afterwards, the room clears for The Social’s big Friday night, but all guests are welcome to head to the cosy booths of the bar upstairs. We will be out in the best place to be on a Friday night.
The nights we put on will revolve around different themes. Sometimes there’ll be music, sometimes there’ll be conversation. Our first night will involve a bit of both.
On April 22 we’re really excited to welcome Miki Berenyi for an evening of the Stories Behind The Songs: she’ll trace the tales behind the songs she wrote and sang with Lush, playing some of them, as well as giving us a sneak preview of her forthcoming memoir in conversation with Ted.
Tickets are £7.99 and available by clicking through here.
All ticket holders will receive a “signed book plate” from Miki too (we’re not entirely sure what that means, but Miki’s publisher Nine Eight Books generously offered it and it sounds good to us). Here’s a little Lush refresher…
We’re also happy to offer five pairs of tickets free to paying New Cue subscribers. Send us an email stating your desire for a pair and we will pull them out at random nearer the date. More announcements of events to come! In the meantime, enjoy today’s recommender. Here’s a playlist of all today’s picks to listen along:
We’ll see you on Monday for an in-depth chat with dub-master and post-punk king, Dennis Bovell.
Cheers,
Ted, Niall and Chris
