An Album To Blow Your Mind
US singer-songwriter Becca Mancari picks the debut solo album by Alabama Shakes’ singer.
Last week, Nashville singer and songwriter Becca Mancari released their third record Left Hand, a quietly captivating indie-pop record that features guest appearances from Brittany Howard and Julien Baker. Definitely worth a listen:
Here, Mancari tells us why they think Howard’s 2019 solo record is a masterpiece:
Brittany Howard
Jaime (2019)
"When I listen to this record by Brittany Howard I feel like I step into the mind of a person who truly sees the world around them. An artist that cares about every single sonic sound and placement. It’s like a feast for your mind, and on a personal level it’s a record that I referenced on multiple occasions in the making of my own new record. If there’s one thing I can say about Brittany Howard is that she is unafraid to play parts that don’t always “make sense” and that’s what I truly love about her music. It's not predictable, and that’s what makes it so interesting. She also does not care about staying in a certain genre and that’s something that I really relate to and admire. Jaime is a true work of art."
