The New Cue #418 September 25: Release Valve with Blossom's Tom Ogden, + The Coral's Nick Power on a Captain Beefheart masterpiece
“It was inspired by a giant fiberglass gorilla that was stolen from a garden centre.”
Good morning,
Welcome to your Wednesday dose of The New Cue, the midweek picker-upper. In today’s edition, Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden answers the big questions about his musical heroes and favourite people called Gary. The Coral’s Nick Power, meanwhile, spins a lovely yarn about why Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica left such an indelible mark on him.
That’s right, maths experts, it’s good stuff x 2. But it’s for paying subs only – it’s like The Joker says in The Dark Knight, “if you’re good at something, never do it for free.” And we’re very good at letting other people talk words of profound wisdom whilst remaining silent. Or get a beer fridge. Yippee!
Enjoy the edition,

Release Valve: Blossom’s Tom Ogden

The last record I loved was… Thee Sacred Souls by Thee Sacred Souls. I heard them on Radio 2 and thought it was a band from the 70s.
